AQUAMARINE SPHERE, LG

82mm in diameter.  Rare to find such a large piece with this depth of natural colour and very good quality.  I have included it in the mineral category as well in case any of you mineral collectors have a penchant for a gorgeous sphere of quality aquamarine in this size!

A gorgeous large aquamarine sphere exhibiting some striations common to beryl. 100% natural, proving it with a small crack along one of its cleavage planes.

The colour variance in the photos is due to the different times of day – both sets were taken in natural sunlight coming through my large windows.  This is 100% natural aquamarine with no treatments whatsoever.

Beryl is named differently according to its colouration.  This beautiful aqua blue colour is the natural aquamarine.  More of the lighter sky blue aquamarine has been heat treated, but there are still natural specimens out there with the true blue.  Other well-known members of the beryl family are emerald and morganite.
